Xerjoff named this for the year Italy was unified, and it smells like a toast. Calabrian bergamot, Amalfi lemon and tangerine arrive tart and peel bright rather than sweet, and mint threads through Bulgarian rose and lily of the valley for a cool, almost mentholated snap. Virginia cedar, patchouli and musk stop the citrus from vanishing outright. Still, brightness like this is a morning proposition: start a day with it rather than trying to end one.
